We provide therapy exclusively via telehealth (a service we’ve offered since 2017) to support accessible and effective connection.

At this time, SCCS is not accepting new clients or consultations. This decision allows us to maintain ethical clinical capacity and provide attentive, high-quality care to our existing clients.

Our Approach: Gottman Method Couples Therapy

We specialize in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (GMCT)—a research-backed approach designed to strengthen friendship and respect, manage conflict with empathy, and honor both individual and shared dreams. With over 50 years of research, GMCT provides practical tools to help relationships thrive.

Becoming a Certified Gottman Therapist (CGT) is no small feat. The certification process requires:

  • Hundreds of hours of specialized training
  • Over 100 hours of conducting GMCT
  • 15+ hours of direct consultation with a Master CGT
  • A rigorous video submission review to demonstrate mastery

Is Couples Counseling Right for You?

Couples therapy is deep, intentional work. In some cases, alternative or conjunctive resources may be more appropriate, such as:

  • Individual therapy
  • Rehabilitation programs
  • Anger management courses
  • Interpersonal violence programs
  • Relationship retreats or workshops

If we determine that another option would better serve your situation, we will provide guidance on the next best steps.

Your Privacy Matters

We uphold the highest standards of confidentiality, but there are specific legal exceptions in both Hawai‘i and the UK where privacy cannot be guaranteed:

Confidentiality Limits in Hawai‘i:

  • Imminent risk of harm to yourself or others
  • Suspected or disclosed abuse/neglect of a minor, dependent adult, or elder
  • Legal requirements such as subpoenas or court orders

Confidentiality Limits in the UK:

  • Clear risk of harm to yourself or others
  • Suspected or disclosed abuse/neglect of children or vulnerable adults
  • Legal disclosures required by court order or law
